Alternative to itoa() for converting integer to string C++?

In C++11 you can use std::to_string:

#include <string>

std::string s = std::to_string(5);

If you're working with prior to C++11, you could use C++ streams:

#include <sstream>

int i = 5;
std::string s;
std::stringstream out;
out << i;
s = out.str();

boost::lexical_cast works pretty well.

#include <boost/lexical_cast.hpp>
int main(int argc, char** argv) {
    std::string foo = boost::lexical_cast<std::string>(argc);
}
