Set selected item of spinner programmatically

Use the following: spinnerObject.setSelection(INDEX_OF_CATEGORY2).

No one of these answers gave me the solution, only worked with this:

mySpinner.post(new Runnable() {
    @Override
    public void run() {
        mySpinner.setSelection(position);
    }
});
