Tensor rank of acceleration in Newtonian mechanics

Yes, in Newtonian mechanics acceleration is the derivative of velocity with respect to time. Since velocity is a vector (i.e. a rank 1 tensor) then so is acceleration. Things are a little more complicated in general relativity, since we have to be careful how we define "time", but acceleration is still a vector.
