Example 1: postgresql restore from dump

psql -U postgres -h localhost -p 5432 -f data_dump.sql

Example 2: postgresql dump and restore db

#To dump a database called mydb into a SQL-script file:
pg_dump mydb > db.sql

#To reload such a script into a (freshly created) database named newdb:
psql -d newdb -f db.sql

Example 3: postgresql backup and restore globals and data

$ pg_dump -U postgres -h localhost -p 5433 --clean --file=sandbox.sql sandbox
$ pg_dumpall -U postgres -h localhost -p 5433 --clean --globals-only --file=globals.sql

Example 4: postgresql backup and restore globals and data

$ psql -U postgres -h localhost -p 5433 < globals.sql
$ psql -U postgres -h localhost -p 5433 < sandbox.sql
