Example 1: python slice an array

a[start:stop]  # items start through stop-1
a[start:]      # items start through the rest of the array
a[:stop]       # items from the beginning through stop-1
a[:]           # a copy of the whole array
Example:
>>> a = [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8]
>>> a[1:4]
[2, 3, 4]

Example 2: list slicing in pandas

>>> nums = [10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90]
>>> some_nums = nums[2:7]
>>> some_nums
