The reader function from the csv library will take all the rows in the csv file and return each row from the file into a code example
Example 1: python read csv file
import csv
with open('employee_birthday.txt') as csv_file:
csv_reader = csv.reader(csv_file, delimiter=',')
line_count = 0
for row in csv_reader:
if line_count == 0:
print(f'Column names are {", ".join(row)}')
line_count += 1
else:
print(f'\t{row[0]} works in the {row[1]} department, and was born in {row[2]}.')
line_count += 1
print(f'Processed {line_count} lines.')
Example 2: csv manipulation python
import csv, sys
filename = 'some.csv'
with open(filename, 'rb') as f:
reader = csv.reader(f)
try:
for row in reader:
print row
except csv.Error as e:
sys.exit('file %s, line %d: %s' % (filename, reader.line_num, e))
