reduce in rruby code example

Example 1: ruby reduce

# Sum some numbers
(5..10).reduce(:+)                             #=> 45
# Same using a block and inject
(5..10).inject { |sum, n| sum + n }            #=> 45
# Multiply some numbers
(5..10).reduce(1, :*)                          #=> 151200
# Same using a block
(5..10).inject(1) { |product, n| product * n } #=> 151200
# find the longest word
longest = %w{ cat sheep bear }.inject do |memo, word|
   memo.length > word.length ? memo : word
end
longest                                        #=> "sheep"

Example 2: reduce method

The reduce() method executes a reducer function (that you provide) on each element of the array, resulting in single output value.

The reducer function takes four arguments:
Accumulator (acc)
Current Value (cur)
Current Index (idx)
Source Array (src)

//syntax
arr.reduce(callback( accumulator, currentValue, [, index[, array]] )[, initialValue])
//example flatten an array

let flattened = [[0, 1], [2, 3], [4, 5]].reduce(
  ( accumulator, currentValue ) => accumulator.concat(currentValue),
  []
)
