Example 1: stop apache server

# On Ubuntu
## Start command ##
systemctl start apache2.service
## Stop command ##
systemctl stop apache2.service
## Restart command ##
systemctl restart apache2.service

Example 2: how to kill apache process in linux

sudo netstat -nap | grep :80
You’ll see apache2 and there is 3–4 digit numbers before it, mine is 980
sudo kill [number]
