run vs code from terminal code example

Example 1: install code command on mac

Open VCode
press CMD + SHIFT + P
type 'shell command' 
select 'Install code command in path'
navigate to any project from the terminal and type 'code .'

Example 2: install code . path in mac

export PATH="/Applications/Visual Studio Code.app/Contents/Resources/app/bin:$PATH"

Example 3: mac open vs code from terminal

$ alias code="open -a /Applications/Visual\ Studio\ Code.app"

#Open Visual Studio Code by command
$ code .

Example 4: open vs code from terminal

Launch VS Code.
Open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P) and type 'shell command' to find the Shell Command: Install 'code' command in PATH command.
Restart the terminal
Navigate to project folder in terminal, 
Type code . press enter
