Example 1: get git remote url

git config --get remote.origin.url

Example 2: git config remote.origin.url

# change remote url
git remote set-url origin https://github.com/USERNAME/REPOSITORY.git

Example 3: git check upstream url

git remote show origin

Example 4: git change origin

$ git remote -v
> origin  https://github.com/USERNAME/REPOSITORY.git (fetch)

Change your remote\'s URL from HTTPS to SSH with the git remote set-url command.
$ git remote set-url origin [email protected]:USERNAME/REPOSITORY.git

Verify that the remote URL has changed.
$ git remote -v
# Verify new remote URL
> origin  [email protected]:USERNAME/REPOSITORY.git (fetch)
> origin  [email protected]:USERNAME/REPOSITORY.git (push)

Example 5: git change remote

$ git remote set-url origin https://github.com/USERNAME/REPOSITORY.git

Example 6: set remote git

git remote add => ADDS a new remote.
git remote set-url => UPDATES existing remote.
