Example 1: git fetch all remote branch

# track all remote branches:
git branch -r | grep -v '\->' | while read remote; do git branch --track "${remote#origin/}" "$remote"; done
# update all local copies of remote branches
git fetch --all
# update all local tracking branches
git pull --all

Example 2: git pull master into branch

git checkout <branch-name>  # gets you on <branch-name>
git fetch origin        	# gets you up to date with origin
git merge origin/master		# pull master into <branch-name>
