Example 1: exit vim

#Press 'Esc' to change from Edit Mode to Command Mode
#Exit
:q
#Force quit without saving
:q!
#Save file and quit
:wq

Example 2: vi save and exit

//Save
:w

Example 3: vi quit and save

# ESC to start command prompt, then
:q!		# exit vi without saving
:wq!	# exit vi with saving (! means exiting even if file is read only)
