IntelliJ shows method parameter hints on usage - How to disable it
I find it helpful to use a shortcut such as P + shift + command
to toggle parameter type hinting as needed. I don't want it disabled entirely.
- open preferences
- click Keymap
- filter by
parameter
- double click on
Toggle parameter name hints
- enter key combination ie,
P + shift + command
- Apply and Ok
- Now the key combo will toggle hints for you.
Right click on the hint, then on Disable
:
From the what's new page:
Parameter hints
The editor now shows parameter hints for literals and nulls used as method arguments. These hints make code much more readable.
If you find hints redundant for a certain method, you can tell the IDE not to show hints for this method. To disable hints completely, uncheck Settings → Editor → General → Appearance → Show parameter name hints.
(emphasis is mine)
Untick the bottom option Show parameter name hints
