counting frequency of characters in a string using javascript
some ES6 syntax with reduce:
let counter = str => {
return str.split('').reduce((total, letter) => {
total[letter] ? total[letter]++ : total[letter] = 1;
return total;
}, {});
};
counter("aabsssd"); // => { a: 2, b: 1, s: 3, d: 1 }
Here you go:
function getFrequency(string) {
var freq = {};
for (var i=0; i<string.length;i++) {
var character = string.charAt(i);
if (freq[character]) {
freq[character]++;
} else {
freq[character] = 1;
}
}
return freq;
};
